Assassin's Creed Unveils Unexpected Attack on Titan Event for Thanksgiving
In a bizarre partnership that challenges usual forecasts, Ubisoft has announced an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, offering complimentary extra story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Questline Disclosed
According to the official announcement, "An unusual confrontation leads characters Naoe and Yasuke into a original quest, where whispers of banned rituals and terrifying metamorphoses echo through the obscurity." The storyline introduces a "strangely attired woman named Ada" who assigns the pair with journeying into the Gemstone Grotto—a key location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her ally from a clandestine sect.
The adventure centers on "strange tests and a monstrous enemy" and is available to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Iconic Locations and Transformations
The preview showcases the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This important location was previously where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through eras. The trailer finishes with a dramatic moment showing a character, likely the prisoner, transforming into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Exclusive Items and Extra Material
Players who finish the mission will receive an exclusive katana alongside multiple items concealed throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also includes premium Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-inspired attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Unique weapons
- Survey Corps vehicle
Latest Free Story Update
This release also adds the game's newest complimentary story content, titled "A Puzzlement." This playful adventure pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they trade distinctive techniques: Naoe debuts a theatrical interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires subduing stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "A Puzzlement" also features a fresh environmental puzzle that may finally shed light on some unanswered questions from the main storyline.
Earlier Anime Collaborations
This represents not the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with popular anime series. The series earlier included a 2020 collaborative story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla subtly contained a quest that clearly echoed the famous series One-Punch Man.
