According to recent claims from a informant, Ghislaine Maxwell, currently serving a two-decade sentence for trafficking offenses, is allegedly readying a clemency request for consideration by the presidential administration.

Special Treatment Claimed at Federal Prison

Congressional Democrats on the House judiciary committee announced that a source provided evidence indicating the inmate is preparing the commutation application. They also stated she has been receiving special treatment at the federal prison camp in the Lone Star State.

Congressman Jamie Raskin, the top Democrat on the committee, stated in a news release that the facility's chief was assisting Maxwell with copying, printing, and sending documents to aid her effort for clemency.

Specific details of the clemency request remain unknown, the congressman noted.

Claimed Perks and Special Accommodations

Raskin states that, per the insider, the prisoner has been receiving “customized” meals that are hand-delivered to her living area, and the supervisor has individually organized exclusive visits for Maxwell and her guests.

These meetings allegedly include a “special cordoned-off area” for visitors and a variety of food and drinks for her guests.

Maxwell’s visitors were also reportedly permitted to bring computers, which the congressman characterized as an exceptional measure given the potential danger and chance of unmonitored communications.

Reportedly on one occasion, when communications failed for other prisoners, she was provided directions about instructing her associates to call and how personnel would connect the communication to her.

Supervisor Acting as Assistant

The source also allegedly told House Democrats that when Maxwell wanted to examine and modify papers “quickly”, she reportedly employed the official as her private aide.

The statement indicates that Maxwell’s correspondents would send files directly to the supervisor, who would provide them to the inmate, who would review and edit them and provide them back to the warden to digitize and send to the original sender.

Extra Benefits Alleged

Further perks allegedly granted to her include time to “play with” a service dog puppy – a perk not “ordinarily allowed” – as well as exclusive nighttime use to the prison exercise area.

Maxwell’s attorney has not yet replied to a request for comment regarding the insider's allegations.

Through a spokesperson, the White House said that it “will not discuss” on possible pardon appeals.

“As President Trump has stated, granting clemency to the convict is not something he has thought about,” the spokesperson noted.

Recent Background

Over the weekend, it was reported that Maxwell told close associates in emails from prison that she was more content at the new prison than her previous prison.

This past summer, she was transferred from a secure facility in Tallahassee, Florida to the minimum-security camp in the state, where most inmates are serving time for non-violent offenses and white-collar crimes.

This move, which authorities called as exceptional, occurred just days after she was interviewed about the Epstein case by the senior justice official, the official, who also previously served as Donald Trump's private attorney.

That interview came as the Trump administration was facing mounting pressure to release more documents related to the Epstein investigation and amid widespread conjecture around the President's own personal ties to the fallen billionaire and convicted sex offender, who was found dead in a New York jail in 2019 while facing trial on trafficking accusations.

Lawmaker Reactions

In the news release, the congressman also announced that he had sent a letter to Trump, requesting explanations about the whistleblower’s allegations, and urged the president to reject Maxwell’s commutation request.

“You should not grant any type of pardon to this adjudicated and remorseless sex offender,” the representative stated in the letter. “Your Administration should not be providing her with personal amenities, with canine interaction, with federal law enforcement officials waiting on her every need, or with any preferential handling or facility benefit at all.”

Raskin requested that Blanche attend a open legislative session to address the disclosures and also posed three questions to Trump.

Raskin asked whether Trump had discussed a potential commutation for Maxwell with Blanche or others, whether he had instructed him or anyone else to arrange Maxwell with the transfer or special conditions in prison, and whether she, her lawyers, relatives or representatives have made any commitments to Trump or his attorneys.

Raskin has asked for a reply to the inquiries by 24 November.

In October, the nation's highest court declined to hear an appeal from the convict on her trafficking verdict.
